Adoption

Sometimes children cannot live with their birth families. One way of providing these children with a stable and secure future is Adoption.

Hampshire Adoption Service provides support to all those for whom adoption is an important issue in their lives. This could be:

  • children and adults who have been adopted
  • birth families of children who have been adopted
  • people who are interested in adopting

In Hampshire we have lots of children waiting to be adopted. They are all different, but they are all looking for adoptive parents who can care for them and support them through to adulthood. So we need all sorts of people who are willing to make space in their lives for a child – you don’t have to be married, or a home-owner, of any particular culture or religion and we have no age restrictions, except that you must be over 21.

Most of the children who are waiting for adoption are over the age of 4 or they may be a group of brothers and sisters who need to be placed together, while some may have disabilities. Some of them will have been neglected and abused.

As an adoptive parent you will be taking on a very important and challenging role, but you will not be doing this without a lot of support from Hampshire Adoption Service. The support will include training and assessment to ensure you as parents are prepared and can meet the needs and challenges of these children who themselves need so much support and love.

Are you ready to make a change to your life and the life of a child?
